Well, our first tournament is over, and it went very smoothly (for the games that did have tournaments). Of course, our turnout was quite small because of the last minute notice, but next time, we will make the necessary changes to have a proper tournament with a good turnout. With the exception of Super Smash Brothers, we were unable to run any tournaments. So here are the results.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
1) Daniel Shrooms
2) Steve
3) Christian Diaz
4) Greg
5) Jim
5) SFD
7) Jacob
7) Mashi
9) Arthur
9) Blue
9) WISH
12) Renegade
The rankings after 7th place are weird, but let's face it, "If you're not Top 3, who the hell are you?!" Next tournament, let's have a real turnout! Thank you to all of those who came out and those who volunteered to help; the tournament would not have been possible without either of you!

GAK Tourny Update
Final details have finally been made to the GAK tourny. The basic guidelines are that it'll be a bring your own controller tournament, although D pads will be provided. The general tournament rules for console tournaments like Evolution apply, such as banning macros on controllers (except those avaliable via in-game menus), and if you pause the game, it's up to the opponent whether you lose that round or not. Entry fee to the event will be $1, and entry to the tournament will be $2 per game. The $1 will be donated to GAK and the $2 will be put into the pot for each game. The details for specific games are as follows:
Games and Rules:
1) Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
First of all, the majority of these rules were taken from Evolution's rules; they work well enough. Secondly, notice that there are two number fours, SSBM and 3s. Currently, there is a small conflict in getting a gamecube to our campus, but if we get one, then we will run SSBM; if not, then we will run 3rd Strike, that simple.
Finally, this tournament will be held this Friday, December 7th in E3-114. It's not too hard to find, it's the first room to the left upon entering the E3 building. If you need help, a map of ELAC can be found here: http://elac.edu/collegeservices/campusmaps/generalmaps.htm. The timetable is as follows:
Games and Rules:
1) Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
- Game Version, US PS2
- Game Settings: VS 2P, default
- Single Game, Double Elimination until Top 8. 2/3 Games, Double Elimination during Top 8.
- EX, Gold, and Shadow Characters are banned
- No Character switching
- Game Version: US PS2
- Game Settings: Speed = Turbo 1, Damage 2, 2/3 Games, Double Elimination
- You may not use any glitch that prevent the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing, etc.
- Deadbody infinites are allowed to gain a positional advantage, but not to delay the game.
- Winner must keep same starting character, but can switch the order of assists.
- Winner may not use the "Switch Glitch" to have a different starting character.
- You may not use the same character twice on one team.
- Game Version: US PS2, Street Fighter Alpha Anthology
- Game Settings: Versus Mode, everything else default
- 2/3 Games, Double Elimination
- Winner must pick the same character
- Game version: Nintendo Gamecube
- Game Settings: Singles VS Melee, Single Game, Double Elimination, 4 Stock, 6 Minute Timer, No Items
- If both players can agree on a stage, that stage will be used. If there is conflict, flip a coin.
- After the stage has been selected by the losing player, the winner of the previous game may change characters, but has to pick first.
- No stage may be used twice in any given set.
- Glitches used to stop your opponent from controlling their character or indefinitely freezing them (Mewtwo's Soul Stunner, the Ice Climber freeze glitch), or any glitch or trick that freezes the game or makes it unable to be finished are banned and will result in the immediate forfeit of the entire match.
- Tactics such as Peach's Wallbombing and Jiggly's Rising Pound are allowed as methods of recovery or to maneuver around the stage. Using them (or any similar tactics) to excessively stall a match, such as dropping below levels intentionally and stalling underneath, is banned. If by using one of these tactics, you have put your character in a place to lose a stock by ending the tactic, a judge may force you to stop and lose a life and continue the match short a stock.
- Game version: US Playstation 2
- Game Settings: Versus Mode, 2/3 Games, 2/3 Rounds, Round Time 99 Seconds
- Gill is not allowed in tournament play.
- The in-game judgment feature will be used to determine the outcome of draw games.
