The rankings after 8th place are kinda weird, since it's the first time I've tried to interpret brackets, but the rest are about right. I just have to apologize for the big delay in the beginning of the event, but everything was a mess and we had to get it straightened out. Big thanks to gootecks for helping me fix 3s, Blitz for running SSBM, all the MvC2 players for being patient with the bracket mixup, and render for not being pissed at me for reasons I won't mention. GGs to everyone I played, although most of them were people I played all the time. So the only player I really played was Phobos, good shit anyways.

Please leave me any comments you can for future reference so that we can make tournaments at ELAC better."

Rules for this tournament

For the most part, they stay the same. But here they are again so that you can review them. The changes will be bolded for your convinience.

1) Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
  • Game Version, US PS2
  • Game Settings: VS 2P, default
  • Single Game, Double Elimination until Top 8. 2/3 Games, Double Elimination during Top 8.
  • EX, Gold, and Shadow Characters are banned
  • No Character switching
2) Marvel VS Capcom 2
  • Game Version: US Dreamcast
  • Game Settings: Speed = Turbo 1, Damage 2, 2/3 Games, Double Elimination
  • You may not use any glitch that prevent the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing, etc.
  • Deadbody infinites are allowed to gain a positional advantage, but not to delay the game.
  • Winner must keep same starting character, but can switch the order of assists.
  • Winner may not use the "Switch Glitch" to have a different starting character.
  • You may not use the same character twice on one team.
3) Super Smash Brothers Melee
  • Game version: Nintendo Gamecube
  • Game Settings: Singles VS Melee, Single Game, Double Elimination, 4 Stock, 5 Minute Timer, No Items
  • If both players can agree on a stage, that stage will be used. If there is conflict, flip a coin.
  • After the stage has been selected by the losing player, the winner of the previous game may change characters, but has to pick first.
  • No stage may be used twice in any given set.
  • Glitches used to stop your opponent from controlling their character or indefinitely freezing them (Mewtwo's Soul Stunner, the Ice Climber freeze glitch), or any glitch or trick that freezes the game or makes it unable to be finished are banned and will result in the immediate forfeit of the entire match.
  • Tactics such as Peach's Wallbombing and Jiggly's Rising Pound are allowed as methods of recovery or to maneuver around the stage. Using them (or any similar tactics) to excessively stall a match, such as dropping below levels intentionally and stalling underneath, is banned. If by using one of these tactics, you have put your character in a place to lose a stock by ending the tactic, a judge may force you to stop and lose a life and continue the match short a stock.

Tournament pricing update

Both Street Fighter 3:3rd Strike and Marvel vs Capcom 2 are now $5 entry each; donation to the club stays the same. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core and Super Smash Brothers Melee is still questionable, but as long as there are no further objections soon, then they will also stay $2 each.

12.7.2007 Tournament Results

Well, our first tournament is over, and it went very smoothly (for the games that did have tournaments). Of course, our turnout was quite small because of the last minute notice, but next time, we will make the necessary changes to have a proper tournament with a good turnout. With the exception of Super Smash Brothers, we were unable to run any tournaments. So here are the results.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
1) Daniel Shrooms
2) Steve
3) Christian Diaz
4) Greg
5) Jim
5) SFD
7) Jacob
7) Mashi
9) Arthur
9) Blue
9) WISH
12) Renegade

The rankings after 7th place are weird, but let's face it, "If you're not Top 3, who the hell are you?!" Next tournament, let's have a real turnout! Thank you to all of those who came out and those who volunteered to help; the tournament would not have been possible without either of you!
